Abstract

The present essay provides the readers with the first English translation of an enlightening epistle belonging to a larger collection of letters written by Matthew of Ephesus in the early fourteenth century, which depicts and provides new data on the relationship between the Byzantine Empire and the Turkmen chieftains.
